The Hardin Hornets lost a close one on Friday, Dec. 18, in their first District 23-2A basketball game of the season, falling to East Chambers at home by a score of 49 to 41.
Coach Ronald Scott said the young men kept the game close all night, "but we just haven't jelled yet as a team. The more we play, however, we'll get there -- but we're just not there yet."
High scorers in the game were Marquis J with 18 and Jacob K with 10 points.
The loss to East Chambers came on the heels of a Dec. 14 loss to Cleveland, a District 22-3A powerhouse. The 102-65 drubbing also came at home. Scott said the Hornets outscored the Indians 26-24 during the third quarter, only to get blown out 25 to 8 during the fourth period of play.
Hardin will play Onalaska at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 21; and Shepherd, on Tuesday, Dec. 22 at noon. The team will take a 5-day holiday break and will then take part in the Spurger Tournament on Dec. 28-30.
