Mrs. Catherine Kuchan
I live in Hardin with my husband and two children, ages 5 and 7, who attend school at Hardin Elementary. As a family, we enjoy playing games, being outdoors, and traveling to various places such as museums, parks, the beach, and/or to visit family out of state.
I graduated from Liberty High School, then attended several different colleges in Texas and Tennessee, completing my undergraduate work at Texas Tech Univeristy where I earned my Bachelor's degree in animal science. I continued my education at New Mexico State University earning a Master's degree in animal science. To further my science education a little more, in January 2016, I began taking online graduate classes in biology with Texas A&M at Commerce and should complete my courses in May 2018.
Before I became a teacher, I explored a variety of careers including 4-H agent for Colfax County, New Mexico, pharmaceutical research with monkeys, dogs, and rodents in Reno, Nevada, and manager for my family's cattle operation in Romayor, Texas. After having my first child, I began to pursue a long-time desire to teach; I taught 8th grade science for one year in Liberty and then had the chance to move to Hardin where I continue to teach 8th grade science.
Although I enjoyed living in all four continental time zones (TN, TX, NM, NV) and pursuing a multitude of opportunities, I am glad to be back at home near my family.
